The Session is pleased to announce that Dr. Alden Snell will be serving as our Interim Director of Music Ministries effective September 7, 2015. Dr. Snell has an M.A. and Ph.D. in Music Education from the world renowned Eastman School of Music. He is on the music faculty of the University of Delaware.
Dr. Snell, the son of Baptist minister, first played the organ in church when he was nine years old. He began leading congregational singing in churches at age fifteen. Alden met his wife Christin during their undergraduate years at Roberts Weslyan University. Christin has a degree in music education and piano pedagogy. She has served as a middle and high school music teacher and choral director and currently is on the faculty of the Community Music School at the University of Delaware. While Alden was completing his graduate degree at Eastman, the Snells served as Co-Directors of Music Ministry at the First Baptist Church in Brockport, NY.
The Snell family has been a vital part of our fellowship for some time now. And, on more than one occasion they have both used their musical gifts to support our worship and ministry. It is God's unique provision for EPC in our time of transiton to provide someone of Alden's gifts, training and experience to serve as our Interim Director. Please join the Session in thanking God for this provision and supporting Dr. Snell in this new role.
