"For Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed." 1 Corinthians 5:7 This Sunday we will celebrate the Lord's Supper. The Lord's Supper reminds us of what Christ has already accomplished for us (a perfect atonement by his blood that secures a perfect righteousness for us by faith). It reminds us that Christ is presently interceding for us before the throne of God as our High Priest. He is there for us to seek help in out time of need. We are not powerless to walk with him in this world. His Spirit dwells in us, enables us and comforts us. Finally, the Lord's Supper reminds us that Christ is coming again to consummate his work in us and his work in the world. This world as we know is not our final home. There will be a day when the pain and strife will end. God will make all things new and we will dwell together with God and the human race in perfect harmony.
As you consider all that the Lord's Table presents to us as believers, what is your response? Are there sins that you need to bring before him and seek his forgiveness? He is ready to forgive you, cleanse you, and fill you afresh with the Holy Spirit. Are their broken relationships in your life that Christ is calling you to take the first step to move toward reconciliation? Christ walks with you and enables you to take these steps. He is greater than your fears. Have you become indifferent to the the things of God: His Word, His Worship, His Church? Ask the Lord to restore your appetite for divine things, and step out in faith to commit yourself anew to worship and private devotion.
