Hayes, T.J. & Kyong A

HayesInfo/Bio: Since 2001 TJ, a covenant child of EP Church, and Kyong A Hayes have been serving with the Navigators in Tokyo, Japan through the BEST Clubs. "BEST” is an acronym for "Bible discussions," "English practice," "Sports," and "Travel," the core elements of the BEST Clubs, a ministry to Japanese college students. American Navigators staff co-labor with Japanese Navigators to run the BEST Clubs in several locations throughout the country.

From July 2006 to the present TJ and Kyong A, along with sons Jack and Sam and daughters Julia and Isabella, have been living in Colorado Springs working through the Navigators’ sabbatical process.

The Hayes will be heading back to Japan to join a Navigator ministry in Utsunomiya, a small city about an hour north of Tokyo. The Navigators have been ministering there for over 20 years and God has formed a multifaceted ministry reaching out to college students, businessmen and families. The Navigators also started a small church there a number of years ago, and it is mainly to those connected with the church that they will be ministering. TJ is excited to be able to study and teach the Word and to mentor/disciple men as they live out their faith in the context of their non-believing family and work situations. Kyong A and TJ both want to connect with other families and stimulate them toward a Christ-centered life.

Irwin, Kirk

Irwin, KirkKirk has been on staff with Campus Crusade for 15 years. The last seven he has been in the New York City campus ministry. Once in NYC he was drawn to the art students in the top art schools there. He saw a opportunity to use the unique talents of these student artists to not only minister within Crusade but to prepare themselves to go back into the arts world and be a much needed influence for Christ .”We were neither giving them platforms to use their creativity in the context of the ministry , nor helping them integrate their art and faith in preparation for going into the 'real world.'" Since that time nearly 100 college students have participated in a Creative Student Ministry called transFORM.

Another aspect of Kirk’s ministry is with the International Arts Movement (IAM) . This ministry was started by

Makoto Fujimura, a successful painter and member of the National Council for the Arts, It is IAMs desire to bring cultural renewel to the hearts and minds of people via the arts that are fully united to the claims and life of Jesus Christ. Kirk has been honored to be on the board of this organization and served for a time as President. This is a fast growing ministry and many important contacts are being made through this organization. Kirk has also been asked by Crusade to serve on several international committees involving creativity.

In October ‘07 Kirk will be married to Miss Sarah Kennedy, a beautiful red headed Texan who is presently a graphic designer at Crusade Headquarters in Orlando , FL. They hope to integrate their talents and calling and minister in NYC.

Artists as Reconcilers

Artists"IAM inspires artists and creative catalysts to engage the culture that is, and create the world that ought to be. Art is society’s existential statement, in answer to the question, "Why live?" International Arts Movement works as a catalyst to inspire people to hope, engage deeply into the depth of culture’s critical zones, and create a world that ought to be. We believe that artistic excellence as a model of "what ought to be" paves the way for lasting, enduring humanity." - Quoted from
